Role Overview

Sperry Marine is a leading supplier of navigation, communication, information, and automation systems for commercial marine and naval markets.  Headquartered in the United Kingdom, we have an extensive international presence across Europe, the Americas and Asia, employing almost 400 people across ten countries.
 
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Finance team as a Branch Accountant. Reporting to the Financial Controller for Europe, in this key role you will be responsible for delivering accurate and on time financial reporting whilst ensuring compliance with local legislation for Belgium and Netherlands.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly reporting ensuring data is accurate and timely
  • Payroll & Travel Accounting: Work closely with local HR and outsourced payroll provider to ensure payments are accurate and on time. Review and approval of employee travel expenses ensuring compliance with company policy.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Conduct regular reconciliations of general ledger accounts
  •  Cash Management: Payment processing in banking portal and accurate posting of receipts and payments into ERP
  • Accounts Payable: Processing of supplier overhead invoices
  • Audit: Support internal and external audits by providing relevant financial information
  • Compliance: Various reporting to authorities or other team member to ensure we remain compliant with regulations
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve processes and drive change to increase efficiency
  • Support: Provide support to local HR and colleagues for ad-hoc requests

About You

The required skills and experience.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance including payroll
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both Dutch and English
  •  Excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Knowledge of Dutch GAAP
