Role Overview

Sperry Marine is a leading supplier of navigation, communication, information, and automation systems for commercial marine and naval markets. Headquartered in the United Kingdom, we have an extensive international presence across Europe, the Americas and Asia, employing almost 400 people across ten countries.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative CAD Technician to produce high‑quality technical drawings and documentation for both company-manufactured products and third‑party equipment. This includes customer‑specific drawings for IBS and Sperry Navigation Equipment (such as VisionMaster, Gyro Steering, and more).

You’ll collaborate closely with Project Engineers and Project Managers to design integrated navigational systems for a wide range of vessels. Your work will span system overviews, interconnection diagrams, and detailed wiring designs - from initial concept through to final “as‑fitted” documentation.

You will also support the creation of mechanical outline drawings, antenna arrangement plans, and occasional bridge layout designs.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver accurate, high‑quality technical drawings and documentation to support internal teams and customer satisfaction.
  • Produce CAD drawings under the guidance of Project Engineering, ensuring precision and consistency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to CAD processes and documentation standards.
  • Contribute to process optimisation to enhance efficiency in documentation development.
  • Foster positive collaboration across departments to strengthen interdepartmental workflows.
  • Adhere to Company Standards of Conduct and all relevant statutory requirements
  • Undertake any additional duties as reasonably requested by management.

About You

You’re a detail‑driven CAD professional who enjoys turning technical concepts into clear, accurate, and high‑quality drawings.

  • Strong working knowledge of computer‑aided design, particularly AutoCAD.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys working within an international environment.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative.
  • Good English communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Basic understanding of marine navigation equipment is an advantage.
