Role Overview

Sperry Marine is a leading supplier of navigation, communication, information, and automation systems for commercial marine and naval markets. UK-headquartered, we operate globally across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, employing nearly 400 people in ten countries.

We’re looking for a Procurement Engineer to act as a critical link between procurement, engineering, and operations. You’ll ensure supplier capabilities, component specifications, and sourcing decisions align with performance, quality, cost, and lifecycle requirements. In this role, you will:
 
  • Collaborate with Engineering and R&D to translate technical requirements into sourcing criteria
  • Support design-to-cost, component standardisation, and manufacturability reviews
  • Drive cost optimisation through specification reviews, alternative sourcing, and value engineering
  • Engage suppliers early to improve quality, cost competitiveness, and readiness for new product introduction
  • Assist in supplier qualification, audits, and technical capability assessments
  • Integrate with cross-functional teams to ensure sourcing decisions meet programme objectives and compliance standards

About You

You’re technically minded with strong commercial awareness and thrive in a collaborative, global environment.

  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
  • Familiarity with cost modelling, design-to-cost principles, and value engineering
  • Understanding of manufacturing and quality processes
  • Ideally, a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Proven experience in engineering, manufacturing, procurement, or supplier development
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence technical and commercial stakeholders
