Role Overview

We are a global leader in the marine navigation systems industry, providing integrated technical solutions for the commercial sector. 

In our multinational organisation, we have a requirement for a Quality Control Specialist in our Vlaardingen office on a 6 month contract.

You will be the responsible for quality control of product from suppliers and customer returns. You must have an eye for detail with a methodical approach to your work, be able to work to, and set yourself targets in a fast-paced environment. You will lead the quality control initiatives in our main Vlaardingen warehouse and advise our global QA team on quality control issues and provide proactive advice to avoid quality problems. You will also help implement improved QC standards and resources.

Your work requires manual unboxing of product and often carrying out measurement and analysis using basic metrology equipment. You must be adept at working with basic metrology equipment and understand the need for calibration of such items.

It is essential that you are passionate about improving product quality – we will look to you to lead the introduction of a sampling regime to ISO 2859 and for capture of statistical information in our easy to use ERP system, for later analysis and improvement within our ISO 9001 quality system.

Thinking outside of the box you implement and advise upon systemic actions needed to control quality within our business, heavily supported by, and with a dotted line into the Quality Systems manager who is also based in the warehouse. Experience in a similar fast-paced production environment such as aerospace or the automotive industry may be advantageous, but not necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out inspection of incoming and outgoing goods in our warehouse via sampling, random checks or 100% (visual) inspection
  • Capture results of inspections ERP system (IFS)
  • Report findings to and discuss with QMS manager with a view to prevent customer quality issues
  • Identifying deviations from known standards, and actively participating in root cause analysis
  • Initiate improvement proposals
  • Coordinate the global Manufacturing Product Review Board (MRB) & physically run this on site.
  • Advise and implement stop/go notes and quarantining of product.
  • Carrying out initial investigation of product from suppliers and customer return and assist in resolving customer and supplier complaints
  • Contribute to keeping work instructions/procedures up to date
  • Statistical analysis of test data and contribution towards continuous improvement of methods and processes.
  • In-process and final testing of batches to required specifications.
  • Checking and authorising release documentation.
  • Communicating progress updates and test information in the department and to other relevant partners.
  • Assist in the setting up, and later running of a highly performing QC area within the Vlaardingen warehouse, with associated reporting out of internal QC KPIs

About You:

  • Passion to exceed customer expectations.
  • Engineering background or qualifications highly sought after
  • Self-starting problem solver and ability to work unsupervised.
  • Significant ERP system experience
  • XL intermediate skills
  • Good communication skills in both Dutch and English
  • ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 experience
  • Internal audit experience, & ideally, qualification.
  • Basic metrology equipment experience.
  • LEAN six sigma qualification (e.g. yellow/green belt) (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of Quality Control standards & sampling methodologies (e.g. ISO 2859) (Desirable)
