Role Overview

Role Summary

The Sales Manager is responsible for leading business development and sales; from opportunity identification to closing the deal. The role is responsible for growing the Sperry Marine market share, brand recognition and business results in Singapore.

The Sales Manager is accountable for developing and owning customer relationships with the objective of positioning Sperry Marine for new build, retrofit and long term service agreements. A core focus and success criteria for the role is driving high levels of customer satisfaction and providing leadership within Sperry Marine in the form of market reviews, business plans, key account reviews and capture strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Lead direct business development and sales opportunities:

  • Lead and progress opportunities throughout the sales process, address customer requests for preliminary and final offerings, technical information, and performance requirements. Inform and report on progress to relevant stakeholders
  • Define, implement and execute market strategies and action plans
  • Analysis of end-user requirements to develop customer-orientated solutions
  • Proactively collaborate to enable cross-organisational cooperation throughout the sales process including organising demonstrations, workshops, webinars and other interactions
  • Lead contract negotiations with the support of cross-functional teams
  • Ensure a comprehensive handover of commercial and technical aspects at contract award to the execution teams
  • Identify and support with the capture of new build projects
  • Maintain an accurate opportunity pipeline
  • Responsible for forecasting demand and sales volumes
  • Ensure compliance of our sales activities with internal business processes
Maintain and develop customer relationships to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction:
  • Identify and develop relationships with new customers
  • Implement Key Account Management strategies
Develop and promote Sperry Marine market position and brand:
  • Support Product Management (marketing) in the development of regional pricing and go-to-market approach
  • Participate in relevant industry events, such as conferences, seminars, and trade shows
  • Work with internal and external experts (technical, financial, legal, environmental, etc.) in order to maximize the competitiveness of Sperry Marine solutions

About You:

  • Knowledge of global shipping industry and suppliers
  • 3 years+ experience of sales dealing within the maritime sector and with ship owners
  • Knowledge and experience of service and support within maritime industry desirable
  • Awareness of NavCom third party service companies desirable
  • Customer relationship management experience
  • Developing marketing strategies to increase sales and profitability
  • Experience of delivering technical sales information and winning orders
  • Confident in generating leads and identifying new customers
  • Fluent written and verbal English language skills
  • Focuses on customer needs and satisfaction
  • Works strategically to consistently realise goals and objectives
  • Able to easily establish good relationships with customers and stakeholders; relates well to people at all levels and builds wide and effective networks.
  • Shows respect for the views, contributions and different cultures of other team members by consulting and sharing information and expertise.
  • Experience of gaining clear agreement and commitment from others through influence or persuasion. Able to makes a strong personal impact on stakeholders to drive results.
  • Takes responsibility for actions, projects and people by demonstrating initiative and working under own direction. Able to make quick, clear decisions which may include tough choices or risks.
