Role Overview

As a leader in commercial maritime navigation solutions, Sperry Marine is targeting ambitious growth and excellence in our delivery to customers.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, our FP&A Analyst is a pivotal part of the finance organisation, consolidating and interpreting financial results and forecast to understand business performance. You will work closely with the regional financial controllers, sales & operations planning lead, and finance business partners across the organisation to product a consolidated financial forecast based on a broad range of inputs. You will also be critical in the production of annual product line and overhead budgets to ensure that the business is empowered to deliver financial performance at all levels.

Performance Reporting, Analysis and Forecast cycle
  • Ownership, management and development of the Sperry forecasting model in line with monthly performance reporting and forecasting cycle across all financial statements.
  • Monthly production of monthly finance packs to value stream owners to manage the ongoing performance of awards, sales and profitability.
  • Ongoing collaboration with value stream business partners and leads to translate performance signals into forecast updates, consolidation and articulation of key levers driving changes to expectation.
  • Monthly production of cost centre performance packs including ongoing partnering with cost centre owners to ensure familiarity and management of spend against budget.
  • Ongoing coordination of cost centre financial performance and forecast updates.
  • Close collaboration with Head of Finance, Finance Director, and wider Senior Leadership team to ensure communication of current performance and forecast updates.
  • Consolidation and communication of key sensitivities to current forecast driving action to realise upside and avoid downside in a pragmatic way.

Group Reporting

  • Translation of Sperry forecasting model into corporate forecasting templates in line with the monthly forecasting cycle. Provision of key variance to prior forecast and budget throughout the course of the year.
  • Presentation of forecast updates to group financial planning team.
  • Submission of Annual Operating Plan updates on an annual basis.

Financial Business Planning

  • Coordinate and drive the financial annual operating plan (AOP) model to support the annual business planning updates, communication of all key financial dependencies and assumptions underpinning the plan. Managing through multiple revisions.
Annual Budgeting & Budget Management
  • Translation of AOP financial model into timely annual budgets for value streams and cost centre managers to ensure empowered business delivery.

About You:

  • An interpreter, able to analyse a broad range of inputs and evaluate the key drivers of business performance.
  • Curious, comfortable in the “grey space” – comfortable engaging the business and asking questions.
  • A strong communicator, comfortable explaining financial performance to the executive team and budget holders alike.
  • A creative thinker, comfortable improving processes and models to deliver better outcomes.
Skills and Experience:
  • Demonstrable modelling and analytic capability, comfortable working with a broad set of data inputs.
  • Experience working in FP&A role in a multi-channel, multi-disciplinary business.
  • Solid knowledge of management accounting processes (US GAAP experience and advantage) and multiple revenue recognition methodologies (IFRS 15 / ASC 606).
  • Any experience of JEDOX / TM1 or other OLAP planning models would be an advantage
  • Experience working across multiple systems and platforms (ERP / Excel / OLAP) and looking for opportunities to streamline data flows where possible.
  • Suitable professional Financial (fully qualified ACCA or equivalent)
